Process industry brines
In the process industry (chemicals, pharmaceuticals, metals, bio ethanol, etc), brines are often highly acidic (or alkaline) and contain significant loads of organic and inorganic compounds. Dyvar® offers a proven approach to reliably and efficiently handle technically challenging brines.
Dyvar is increasingly used to concentrate feedstock brines and semi-finished products, as well as to condition chemical mother liquors through advanced fractional crystallization. This helps optimize production processes or meet quality and trading specifications of liquid products. In process industries, Dyvar® has been applied for concentration of an corrosive inorganic coagulant and flocculant, chlor-alkali production, soda production (waste brines), and fertilizer recovery from brines in bio-ethanol production.

Waste brines
Dyvar® concentrates reverse osmosis (RO) brines and acidic production streams to reduce liquid waste volumes and is well-suited for processing complex salt matrices with fluctuating compositions, high/low pH and containing organics. Dyvar® enables the concentration and crystallization of these brines into clean condensate and salt crystals. It significantly reduces disposal and incineration costs while enabling the recovery of valuable components and high-quality water for reuse within the production cycle.
Why the process industry chooses Dyvar®
By combining high water recovery with selective crystallization, the technology not only reduces waste but also creates value from recovered salts and raw materials, all while ensuring compliance with tightening environmental regulations.
High water recovery & volume reduction
Maximizes water reuse while significantly reducing brine volume and associated disposal costs.
Handles complex, variable brines
Reliably concentrates challenging salt matrices with fluctuating composition, extreme pH (high/low), and organics.
Resource recovery via fractional crystallization
Enables primary salt removal and recovery of valuable raw materials / semi-finished products from brines.
Regulatory & environmental compliance
Helps sites meet tightening environmental regulations by reducing waste streams and improving discharge/disposal performance.
A smarter way to handle brines
Salttech’s Dyvar technology is a one-step technology for concentrating and crystallizing highly concentrated and variable brines. It operates fully on electricity without the need for continuous steam. The system is modular, containerized, allowing quick startup and integration into existing systems.
